Born to Greg Perry, awarding-winning Writer and Music Producer with Number 1 hits like Honeycone: Want ads, Stickup, & One Monkey; Freda Payne: Bring the boys home, Chairman of the board: Pay to the piper & Somebody’s been sleeping in my bed. She is also the daughter of legendary R&B singer Edna Wright.
Edna Wright is the lead singer for the award winning group Honeycone, with such Number 1 Hits as Want ads, Stick up, and One Monkey.
With such a rich history and legacy of music, it was Melodye’s destiny to follow in her Parents footsteps. Performing since the age of eight with such artists as Chicago, Sheena Easton, The Eurhythmics, Cher, U2, and Michael Jackson to name a few. She has also done commercials for Nabisco and Dodge, guest starred on Good news and School House Rock.
She is most proud of Performing on Broadway; where she played in AIDA as Nehebka and understudied Aida, then played Nala in Disney’s LA production of Lion King, and toured in AIDA, where she played the lead role, AIDA.
Recently she performed at the Freud theatre in Jason Alexander’s Damn Yankees filling in for Lillias White and playing along side Jackee Harry as her younger sister.
She also performs in California’s hottest clubs, Rrazz room in San Francisco, The Viper Room, Key Club, House of Blues, and The Roxy.
She is the female vocalist for LA station 92.3; she is also a songwriter, working with Producers David Banner, Rob Knox, Jimmy Lovine and Warryn Campbell
Most recently, she is the single vocalist on Tyler Perry’s Trailer for his new movie, “For Colored Girls.”
She wrote and performed the Title song “Breathing Love” on the Tyler Perry film production of the foreign film and dance movie titled “Make your Move, Produced by Rob Knox.
She has also finished a 2015 recording with Paul McCartney and Lady Gaga and performed at the White House for President Barack and Michelle Obama on The PBS special “The Gospel Tradition 2015” with Lyle Lovett, Tamela Mann, Shirley Caesar and Aretha Franklin.
Her next venture is working on her own solo project, she’s excited about it and her future is bright.
In addition to her musical, creative and acting journey, she has landed a starring film role in upcoming movie Blood Crushed Altar. Scheduled release of 2017.
